On Wednesday the 10th April Atlas House held it's first 'Recognition Awards'. This is to recognise staff who went the extra mile in caring and supporting the people who are staying at Atlas House.
Winner! Matt - Specialist Occupational Therapy Support Worker
Matt was chosen because of his caring attitude and being a virtuous worker who always does the right thing. He is very well liked by the people he supports and we have noticed he developed a great rapport with one person who has profound learning disabilities and autism and he brilliantly role models communication with this person. Matt is always up for singing with the people he supports and he engages everyone in doing football, hydro, games and a variety of activities.
Here's what the people Matt supports said about him:
'Matt is a friendly man who is always happy. I always beat him at table football and real football'
'Matt is nice, sings with me and play games'
'Matt is a really good guy and he is a hard worker'
'Matt supports me, he takes me out and I like him. He plays games with me'
Well done Matt and keep up the great work!
Winner! Stanley - support worker
Unfortunately Stanley could not be with us at the awards and we really missed him. Stanley was chosen because he is great with the people he supports and he is diligent at recording everything. Stanley has lots of great ideas in meetings and handover. He isn't afraid to challenge senior members of staff. Also it was noted that he is very calm at difficult times and is great at deescalating situations.
Here's what the people Stanley supports said about him:
'Stanley is a good guy, who you can talk to about anything'
'Stanley is a nice man and he does things for me'
'Stanley is a great guy and helps me'
'Stanley is a good listener'
Well done Stanley and keep up the great work!
Both winners were given a £50 voucher and a framed certificate. Our next recognition awards are in July.
